In February of 2005 Brad was the featured entrepreneur at our EFNE Cafe. He discussed his unique "in trust" covenant, which he has developed and implemented at the three companies he's started, including the highly successful MasterCard Advisors. His main talking points included:
1. A Covenant of Trust is created when a commitment is made to the company. This extends to vendors/investors/suppliers, etc.
2. Develop a pedigree of "mutts" and let them have a say in the hiring as well as management.
3. Get customers involved in the bonus process for a fair appraisal of performance.
In December 2005, Brad successfully turned over what was formerly Watch Hill Partners to MasterCard Advisors. He was able to take a break from his hard work and just enjoy life earlier this year. Brad has remained very busy serving on the board of directors for five different companies, including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island. In the true spirit of the entrepreneur, he is currently in the process of investigating his next business venture.
Brad was also President of the FlexHosting Division of Akibia and Executive Vice President for Covansys, Inc. (NASDAQ: CVNS) operating the Eastern United States P&L. Brad Waugh came to Covansys through acquisition of his previous company, C. W. Costello where he was acting President at the time of the acquisition.
Brad Waugh is a graduate of the Boston University School of Management, where he received a BS/BA in MIS and Industrial Marketing. He is the past President of the Rhode Island Technology Council and a former member of the Boston University School of Management Board.
He currently serves as a Commissioner on The Rhode Island Convention Center Authority and serves on the Board of Directors of ArcStream.
